Our Vision, Values and Purpose

Romans 8:38-39

NBUC Vision

Imagine God building better lives, better families, a better Brampton and beyond…we do!

Purpose

To enable everyday people to grow in the way of Jesus and follow the living God out into the community by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Values

Passionately Christ Centred (Romans 8:38-39; Colossians 3:5-12; 2 Corinthians 5:16-21)

We believe that God has come in Jesus and that Jesus has given us his Spirit to continue the healing and redeeming work that is part of His mission in this world. In Jesus we have a concrete look at who God is and how we can live as people trying to follow Him today. The teaching, healing, life, death and resurrection of Jesus all make Him unique and special to the Christian faith and this is foundational to who we strive to be at NBUC.

Radically Inclusive (Galatians 3:28; James 2:1-4; John 13:34)

Jesus came with good news for ALL people. This simple reality guides us to want to welcome and include EVERYONE. We desire to be a community for those who are searching and seeking as well as those who haven’t always felt like they belonged in a church. We often say we want to be a church where ALL people can belong and experience God’s love. God’s love is that wide and deep and so as we love as God does it just makes sense for us to make room for all people regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, ability, socio-economic status and those from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and others whom society might isolate. As we do this together we reflect the radical love of God!

Relentlessly Reaching Out (John 1:14; Romans 10:10-14)

We believe that the world should be different because God has a church at 363 Howden Boulevard. We want to mirror Jesus’ heart for justice to a world in need. We want to offer hope – sometimes in very practical ways such as partnering with a neighbourhood centre which supports marginalized people in the community; offering in person and online worship services; fostering a continuum of Christian discipleship including but not limited to the Alpha experience; and supporting our neighbours through our food cupboard; seeking reconciliation with Black, Indigenous and People of Colour; taking an active stand against racism, Islamophobia, and hurtful words and actions against people who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+.
