1)     Passionately Christ Centered

At NBUC we have always been a church that put Jesus at the center of our lives. We believe that God has come in Jesus and that Jesus has given us his Spirit to continue the healing and redeeming work that is part of his mission in this world. In Jesus we have a concrete look at who God is and how we can live as people trying to follow him today. The teaching, healing, life, death and resurrection of Jesus all make him unique and special to the Christian faith and this is foundational to who we want to be at NBUC.

2)     Radically Inclusive

Jesus came with good news for ALL people. This simple reality guides us to want to welcome and include EVERYONE. We welcome those who are searching and seeking as well as those who haven’t always felt like they belonged in a church. We often say we want to be a church where people can “belong before they believe”. God’s love is that wide and deep and so as we love as he does it just makes sense for us to make room for all people especially and including those from the LGBTQ plus community, families with disabilities and those whom society might isolate. As we do this together we reflect the radical love of God!

3)     Relentlessly Reaching Out

The idea of reaching out beyond our walls has always been part of the DNA of NBUC. Again we are simply reflecting the heart of God who has reached out and is reaching out to us. We believe that the world should be different because God has a church at 363 Howden Blvd. We want to offer hope to a world in need – sometimes that is in very practical ways such as free carnivals and providing food or Christmas gifts, and sometimes that is through inviting people to experience God and catch the good news of Jesus through things like Alpha and Sunday worship.
