Table of Reconciliation Work

Actionably living into God's dream for equality and equity amongst all people

At NBUC we've committed to continuing the conversation of racial reconciliation beyond a series or a trend. We want to engage in opportunities that allow us to learn, support each other's learning journeys and share in transparency.

Join our team

We know that as a church we need to continue to learn, educate our community and have a safe space to ask difficult questions. So we've formed a committee! We plan TOR events every quarter of the year by choosing a marginalized community we feel needs exposure, financial support or showcase educating experience for our community

We are a team of eager people with a passion for reconciliation and change for our community and beyond. If you're interested, please contact our committee lead. Let's start the spark to change one conversation at a time

Daily Prayer for Reconciliation

We hope that you and your families will be able to include this prayer or your own prayers for reconciliation, love and equality into your daily life. There is so much power in prayer and although we believe prayer is not the end, it s a great place to start in this fight for equality and equity in our society. Click here to download the Prayer

How Do I Start The Conversation?

We believe there is such value in honest and loving conversations, especially with this topic that is so deeply rooted in society and systems. That is why we want to encourage you to reach out to a black family member, neighbour, friend or colleague to open up a conversation as an action toward a better world. It may be a time to confess or ask questions, but it will mainly be a time to listen, learn and demonstrate a new level of support.

We know these are uncomfortable conversations to have and they can be very painful. That is why we encourage you to join our monthly events to provide some resources and guidelines to help in opening a conversation with the people in your life. We hope they can help you have a loving and healthy dialogue as you continue to talk about the racism that exists in our world. These conversations are ways in which we can make strides towards unity and change.

Some may not be ready to have these conversations, and that is ok! We are here to support you in whichever part of the journey you are on. We encourage you to keep listening and learning and maybe one day, these events will be here to help you in a time where you are ready!
